IFLOS Summer Academy

The International Foundation for the Law of the Sea was established in 2003 to promote the opportunities provided by the Tribunal for the peaceful settlement of law of the sea disputes and the further implementation of the Convention. One of the Foundation's main aims is to promote learning and research in the field of international law of the sea at a global level, in particular for nationals of developing countries.

In 2007 the Foundation established an annual Summer Academy at the seat of the Tribunal. The Summer Academy is a four-week course devoted to matters relating to both international law of the sea and maritime law. Lecturers are judges of the Tribunal, professors, practitioners and professionals from the law of the sea and maritime fields. The course is open to highly-qualified graduates, government representatives and lawyers.

Detailed information about the Summer Academy is available on the Foundation's website.
