Experts

Pursuant to article 289 of the Convention, in any dispute involving scientific or technical matters, the Tribunal may, at the request of a party or proprio motu, select no fewer than two scientific or technical experts. The selection is made in consultation with the parties and should be based on the relevant list prepared according to article 2 of Annex VIII to the Convention. Further provisions concerning the selection of such experts are contained in article 15 of the Rules. Experts appointed under article 289 of the Convention sit with the Tribunal but without the right to vote. They take part in the judicial deliberations of the Tribunal.
