Born: Namwon, Korea, 15 April 1930.
Education: B.A. in Political Science, Seoul National University, Korea (1959); Graduate Diploma in Applied Linguistics, University of Edinburgh, Great Britain (1965); Ph.D. in International Law, Faculty of Law, University of Edinburgh (1971).
Professional Experience: Research Associate, Harvard Law School (19721978); Fellow, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, Washington, D.C. (1973); Research Associate, East-West Center, Hawaii (19781982); Professor of International Law, Faculty of Law, Korea University (19821995); Director, Asiatic Research Center, Korea University (19921995); Professor of International Law, Faculty of Law, Seinan Gakuin University, Japan (19952001); Distinguished Professor of International Law, Graduate School of International Studies, Korea University (19972001); participation in the Third UN Conference on the Law of the Sea and the Preparatory Commission for the International Seabed Authority and for the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea representing the Republic of Korea and the International Law Association (19741995).
